DC Speak Out is a Writing and Public Speaking Group
designed to help Activists become better Writers, Speakers, and Leaders
Come and improve your writing and speaking abilities! Communication is the
heart of any movement or action. Speeches either motivate or bore, and through
honest and professional feedback, we can help you find your voice! Find the
support you need for your cause. If your cause is worth hearing about, it should
be communicated effectively.
The peace movement and
environmental movement need new people and ideas. We need YOU! We have set up a
place where people can go weekly to improve their writing and public speaking
abilities, and to network with other active people. Meeting groups can grow and
with a large enough membership, real change can be accomplished.
The meeting will run like
this: people will come in with prepared speeches about
environmental/political/scientific topics. People may also spend a
few minutes writing out their thoughts on certain subjects, such as their views
and ideas on how to fix certain problems in the world. These notes can also be read out in
front of the group as a speech. Every effort will be made for all to have a chance to
speak rather than just a few people.
Speeches give people inspiration. Inspiration is what drives movements and
new ideas. Movements and new ideas are what will save Earth from war, pollution,
and the people who are determined to destroy it. In order to be
successful at changing the planet, we must hear each other's ideas. We need to hear you. The world needs to hear
you!
There is no charge to attend. Please email dcspeakout@dcspeakout.com so we know approximately the number of attendees, and if you have any special needs. We will meet at The People's Media Center 4132 Georgia Ave NW, Washington DC, 20011 on Saturdays WEEKLY at 2pm to 3:30pm, so mark your calendar to join us at our next meeting! Together as a group, we can inspire each other to positive deeds. The topic for the next meeting is always open. Come to our meeting and speak so we can hear your idea!
